PRIVACY POLICY
Effective October 20, 2026
MJB Cannabis ("MJB," "we," "us" or "our") is a licensed non-medical cannabis retail store at 5777 Albert Place, Prince George, BC V2N 4R5. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information when you visit our website at mjbcannabis.com, use our online menu at shop.mjbcannabis.com, shop in our store or contact us. We follow British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
1. Information we collect
We only collect what we need. Depending on how you deal with us, that can include:
- Contact details, such as your name, phone number and email address, when you place an order, create an online account, sign up for updates or contact us.
- Age and identity information, when we check your government-issued ID to confirm you are 19 or older, as BC law requires.
- Order information, such as the products you reserve or buy, order times and pickup details.
- Payment information, when you pay. Card payments are handled by our payment processors, and we don't store full card numbers.
- Messages and feedback you send us.
- Website and device information, such as your IP address, browser, device type, pages viewed and how you arrived at our site, collected through cookies and similar tools.
- Video images, as our store uses security cameras for safety and to meet licensing requirements.
2. How we use your information
- To confirm your age and keep the records BC and federal cannabis laws require.
- To prepare your online orders for pickup and tell you when they're ready.
- To answer questions and give customer support.
- To send you news, deals and updates, but only if you have agreed to receive them.
- To understand how our website is used so we can improve it, our products and our service.
- To keep our store, customers, staff and website safe and secure, and to prevent fraud.
- To meet our legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from regulators and law enforcement.
We won't use your personal information for a new purpose without telling you and, where PIPA requires it, getting your consent.
3. Consent
By giving us your information to place an order, create an account or contact us, you consent to us using it for that purpose. Sometimes PIPA allows us to collect, use or share information without consent, for example to comply with a law or a lawful request. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting our Privacy Officer, though it may mean we can't provide some services, such as online ordering.
4. Emails and text messages
If you agree to hear from us, we may send you emails or texts about new products, deals and events. Every message tells you how to unsubscribe: use the unsubscribe link, or reply STOP to a text. We'll process your request within 10 business days, as CASL requires. You'll still get messages about orders you've placed. Agreeing to marketing messages is never required to shop with us. Message and data rates may apply.
5. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't share it with other businesses for their own marketing. We only share it:
- With service providers who work for us, such as our online menu and ordering platform, payment processors, website hosting, email and text messaging, and website analytics. They may only use your information to provide their services to us and must protect it.
- With regulators and law enforcement when the law requires it, including the BC Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch, Health Canada and the police.
- To protect the rights, property or safety of MJB, our customers, staff or others, or to prevent fraud.
- As part of a sale, merger or transfer of our business, where the new owner must protect your information in line with this policy.
6. Storage outside Canada
Some of our service providers, such as our website, online ordering and analytics providers, may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. Information held outside Canada is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessed by its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities. We choose providers that protect information to a standard comparable to PIPA.
7. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to work properly, remember your choices (for example, which store you last browsed) and measure how the site is used, through tools such as Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, some features, such as online ordering, may not work as expected.
8. How we protect your information
We use reasonable physical, organizational and technical safeguards to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, copying, change or disposal. Only staff and service providers who need it can access it. No website or system is completely secure, so we can't guarantee security. If a privacy breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we'll let you know as soon as we reasonably can and tell you what we're doing about it.
9. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires, including the record-keeping rules for licensed cannabis retailers. If we use your information to make a decision that directly affects you, we keep it for at least one year afterwards, as PIPA requires. When we no longer need it, we securely destroy it or make it anonymous.
10. Your rights
Under PIPA, you have the right to:
- Ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, how it has been used and who it has been shared with.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
- Withdraw your consent, as described above.
- Make a complaint about how we have handled your information.
Send your request in writing to our Privacy Officer (contact details below). We may ask you to confirm your identity first. We'll respond within 30 days, unless PIPA allows us more time, in which case we'll tell you why. Access to your own information is free, though we may charge a small fee for copying large amounts of information, and we'll tell you the cost before going ahead.
11. Age restriction
Our website, online menu and store are only for adults 19 and older. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 19. If we learn we have, we'll delete it.
12. Other websites
Our website links to other sites, such as our online menu provider, Google Maps and social media. Their own privacy policies apply when you use them, so please review them.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If we make a significant change to how we use your information, we'll make it clear on our website.
14. Contact our Privacy Officer
